Automated aeronautical charts production
During official Aeronautical Charting production, the manual workflow is often inefficient and can result in random errors and time-wasting.
IAS Charting makes it possible to have strong control of the processes involved in the chart production flow and provides high level of automation to significantly reduce production time.

IAS Charting is a comprehensive package belonging to theĀ IAS tool suite. IAS Charting is capable of aeronautical charts creation and their insertion/extraction/updating in accordance with the AIRAC cycle. In order to retrieve all the information (aeronautical feature data and chart templates) needed for the generation process IAS Charting is connected to a centralised Aeronautical Database (AeroDB) and a common chart repository.
IAS Charting is delivered with a default database and rule-set that allow immediate production of ICAO compatible charts but is also adaptable to the user's needs. In case the user has different requirements for storing data and representing them on the charts, IAS Charting gives the administrator the possibility to customise the data extraction rules and to control how to display the data on the charts. This rules customisation only needs to be done once. IAS Charting is fully integrated with all other IAS Suite families such as IAS Publishing and IAS Data Maintenance.
This flexibility will continue to be important to chart producers as their requirements evolve and as ICAO, Eurocontrol and ARINC continue to enhance the concept of a default aeronautical database.
IAS Charting can produce all standard chart types including (but not limited to):
IAS Charting is not limited to these types of charts: because it operates on the concept of symbolising geo-referenced features according to rules defined by the administrator it is straight-forward to instruct the system to represent the same feature in different ways as necessary, generating all standard chart types as well as an unlimited number of custom chart types.
IAS Charting is composed of the following products:
Charting Manager is the main interface that provides the operators with a user-friendly environment to run and control any of the charting workflow processes.
Rules Manager enables customisation to meet the specific aeronautical chart design requirements of an Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) organisation. Rules are used in IAS Charting to create charts according to common standards and conventions defined by the user. Once the rules are established, the same chart can be produced according to different output standards. Customised rules make the chart production process more efficient, repeatable and flexible.
Symbolisation Manager is the IAS Charting product that creates and updates aeronautical charts. The process is designed for efficient automated chart production with extensive customisation options and sophisticated data management capabilities such as the management of data temporality.
The enhanced capabilities of SymMan+ allow th euser to go on with his clean-up job while th esystem remembers all the modifications already applied to each chart, avoiding any editing repetition during the next chart symbolisation.
AMS is a helpful tool for aeronautical chart production in an interactive graphics environment, introducing users to graphically based chart creation and editing without requiring and aeroanutical database. Click the link above to see more details.
IAS Charting is delivered with all chart template structures in accordance with the ICAO standards. All these templates are ready to use. IDS provides the initial services to configure the extraction rules and chart templates according to local customer's specifications. The services include training, requirements analysis, customisation of chart templates and data extraction rules. After this process the users have the ability to create new extraction rules and modifying/defining chart templates on their own.
The IAS Charting capabilities have been focussed on saving the operator's time and granting a high level of control during chart production process following AIRAC cycle.
